What to Expect

Medication and Psychotherapy

Frequently, psychotherapy alone can help reduce symptoms, however, an evaluation for medication is sometimes beneficial. I can collaborate with your psychiatrist, internist, other treatment programs and professionals on your recovery and well-being. Should you need a referral, I will provide appropriate options.

Scheduling

My office hours are Monday through Friday with early morning, daytime and evening appointments available. I request 24 hours notice for cancellations (other than due to illness, emergencies or inclement weather) to avoid a missed appointment session fee.

Length of sessions and treatment duration

Sessions last 50 minutes and longer sessions are available as needed. Because every individual is unique, there is no "one size fits all" way of determining treatment duration. Sometimes one session is sufficient and other times, the therapeutic relationship is ongoing, dependent on many variables. Duration of treatment is continually assessed and arrived at mutually and collaboratively.

Confidentiality

All information shared in therapy is confidential as required by law. There are a limited number of exceptions, including suspected abuse of a child or elder, a threat of serious bodily harm to another person, and a deliberate intention to harm oneself. If routine coordination of care is needed with other providers, family members or others, a consent form signed by you is required. No information can be released without your informed consent.

Insurance reimbursement and payment

I do not have contracts with insurance companies as an in-network provider. However, I provide a statement for you to submit to your carrier for your own out-of-network reimbursement through my client portal, SimplePractice. Payment for treatment is expected at each session unless other arrangements have been made. My 50 minute session fee is $300. I accept credit cards, Venmo, or checks as forms of payment.

Communications

I utilize a confidential online portal called SimplePractice to share practice documents, set up appointment reminders, complete intake forms and create payment options in one simple step.

You may reach me by phone, email and text message; however, email and text communications are limited to scheduling purposes and logistical matters only. I will respond to non-emergency messages within the same or by the next business day. In case of emergency, please call 911, contact your physician or go to your nearest emergency room.
